In a special meeting on November 17, 2020, Session made several decisions to ensure that Westminster is in compliance with the new State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Emergency Gatherings and Face Mask Order, dated November 15, 2020, and more importantly to protect our members and friends as effectively as possible during these challenging pandemic times. The biggest change that the order introduces is a limit on the number of households that can gather together indoors, which has been set at two households with a maximum of 10 people.
Beginning on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, we will implement the following:
- All Westminster groups currently meeting in the church building will modify their method of gathering to a virtual / technology-based approach. This includes small groups, ministry teams, and Bible study and book groups that had started meeting at church.
- All rental support groups may continue to meet at Westminster, while continuing to follow the current guidelines in place for those groups. This is based on an exemption in the DHHS order.
- The Uno Dos Tres Preschool may continue meeting, at their discretion, based on an exemption in the DHHS order.
- Youth group meetings will be modified to a virtual / technology-based approach or use other compliant venues.
We are also implementing a new check-in practice for all volunteers, staff and tradespeople that need to enter the building. Individuals will be required to provide information on a sign-in sheet posted near the main entrance. They will also be required to inform the church office if testing positive for Covid. If you need to enter the church for any reason, this applies to you. Note that the church building is normally locked.
