Summer Donation Drives

Helping our Neighbors in Need. 

The Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD) Donation Drive for unhoused and struggling students and their families came to a successful conclusion at the end of July. Our donated items are being delivered to WISD in early August. The WISD team will then be sorting and packing all donations received over the summer beginning August 12 in order to have these items delivered to students and their families at the start of the school year.

Our congregation now pivots to the Jewish Family Services (JFS) Refugee Assistance Donation Drive with donations to be accepted beginning Sunday, August 11 and ending Labor Day weekend. As the only resettlement agency in Washtenaw County, JFS has resettled thousands of individuals from all over the world since its inception. JFS is uniquely positioned to most effectively deliver our donations to local refugees and immigrants, helping them to become self-sufficient, and to create a thriving and stable living environment.

For the Refugee Assistance Donation Drive, bath, kitchen and household items, linens and towels, as well as furniture in good used condition, are requested. A comprehensive list of suggested donation items from JFS is included below. Any furniture donations should be arranged directly with JFS. Donation bins will be placed in the hallway leading to Fellowship Hall for non-furniture items. Target, VISA, or Dollar Tree gift cards, checks (payable to Westminster Presbyterian Church), or cash may also be donated, and should be given to Dave Gross, Assistant Financial Secretary.
